Dashboard

Learn how to read your financial summary, trends, comparisons, reminders, and other insights in one place.

What Is the Dashboard?

The Dashboard brings together key information from across BananaBird so you can quickly review your current financial position and how it has been changing over time.

Accounts, Assets, and Income are reflected through your submitted Snapshots, while Expenses are tracked separately and appear as expense activity is recorded.

As you build more financial history, additional comparisons, charts, and trend information become available.

Notices & Reminders

Important notices may appear near the top of the Dashboard when something needs your attention.

Reminders

The Reminders section can surface items such as an overdue Snapshot, an overdue recurring Manual expense, an unused expense, or an asset that is due for a value update.

You can open the related item directly from the reminder, choose Later, or Dismiss the reminder.

Reminder preferences can be managed from your Profile Reminders section.

Net Worth, Assets & Liabilities

The summary tiles near the top of the Dashboard show your current Net Worth, Assets, and Liabilities.

Assets − Liabilities = Net Worth

These values are based on your latest submitted Snapshot and the accounts and assets that are included in aggregates.

When enough history is available, BananaBird also shows how each value has changed compared with a Snapshot from roughly 30 days earlier.

Assets & Liabilities Over Time

The Assets & Liabilities Over Time chart shows how your total assets, total liabilities, and net financial position have changed across submitted Snapshots.

Use the date range controls to focus on a shorter or longer portion of your financial history.

Account and Asset values use the most recent known value available at each point in time. For Assets, BananaBird falls back to the Asset's Initial Value when no Snapshot value has yet been recorded.

Largest Account Changes

The Largest Account Changes table highlights the accounts with the biggest balance movements between two submitted Snapshots.

This can help you quickly identify which accounts contributed most to a recent change in your overall financial position.

Horizon Breakdown

The Horizon Breakdown organizes your included accounts and assets by financial horizon and shows the net value associated with each group.

The current column shows today's breakdown, while the other columns compare it with earlier periods and show the amount and percentage of change.

Short, Medium, and Long horizons help describe the general timeframe associated with your financial resources and obligations.

Horizon & Liquidity Allocations

Allocation charts provide another way to understand how your included financial resources are distributed.

Horizon charts group values by Short, Medium, and Long financial horizons.

Liquidity charts group values by how readily they can generally be accessed or converted into usable funds, including Liquid, Semi-Liquid, Illiquid, and Locked.

Income Summary

The Income section summarizes income recorded through your submitted Snapshots over several time periods.

Only income sources configured to be included in aggregates contribute to these Dashboard totals.

Expense Summary

The Expenses section summarizes your tracked expense activity over several time periods.

Expenses are tracked independently of Snapshots, so these totals come from your expense entries and recurring expense rules.

Investments

If you have accounts marked as investment accounts, the Dashboard can show their combined value and performance across available comparison periods.

This is a summary of the same investment accounts available through the dedicated Investments page.

Included in Aggregates

Many Dashboard totals and charts are designed to show your primary financial picture. For Accounts, Assets, and Income, the Include in Aggregates setting determines whether an item contributes to those combined calculations.

Items excluded from aggregates can still be tracked and retain their history; they simply do not contribute to the primary combined totals where that setting applies.

When excluded items are present, the Dashboard provides a Not Included in Aggregates section so you can see that some tracked information has intentionally been left out of the main totals.

Building Your Dashboard History

Some Dashboard sections need financial history before they become useful. A newly created BananaBird account may therefore show only limited information.

Accounts, Assets, and Income begin contributing meaningful historical information as you create and submit Snapshots. Expenses begin appearing as expense activity is recorded.

Over time, regular financial check-ins give BananaBird more information to compare, making trends and changes easier to see.
