Billing & Subscription

Learn how BananaBird subscriptions, trials, payment methods, billing status, cancellations, and subscription restarts work.

Subscription Overview

BananaBird uses Stripe to securely manage paid subscriptions and payment information.

The standard paid plan is $3 CAD per month and begins with a 3-month free trial.

Payments Are Managed Through Stripe

BananaBird does not directly collect or store complete credit card numbers or card security codes.

When you add payment information, manage billing, or restart an expired subscription, you will be redirected to a Stripe-hosted page to complete the action securely.

BananaBird stores only the limited billing and subscription information needed to manage your account access and display your billing status.

Your Free Trial

New Paid accounts receive a 3-month free trial.

You can add a payment method at any time during the trial. If a payment method is on file, billing begins when the trial ends.

If no payment method is on file as the trial approaches its end, BananaBird may send reminder emails so you have time to add one.

The Billing Page

Your Billing page shows the current state of your BananaBird subscription, including:

  • Your current plan and subscription status
  • Your trial end date or next billing date
  • Your saved payment method, when available
  • Whether your subscription is scheduled to end
  • Past-due or expired subscription information

For active subscriptions with a saved payment method, the Manage Billing button opens the Stripe Billing Portal, where available billing actions are managed securely.

Understanding Subscription Status

Trial

Your Paid subscription is still within its free trial period. Full application access is available.

Active

Your Paid subscription is active and in good standing.

Payment Past Due

BananaBird could not confirm a successful payment. Your account remains fully accessible during a 14-day grace period so you have time to update your payment information.

Expired

Your Paid subscription is no longer in good standing and normal application access is restricted. You can use the Billing page to restart your subscription.

If a Payment Fails

If a subscription payment fails, BananaBird places the account into a Payment Past Due state.

You retain full application access during the 14-day grace period. Use the Billing page to update your payment information before the grace period ends.

BananaBird may send reminders during the grace period. If payment is successfully recovered, your subscription returns to the appropriate active state.

Cancelling a Subscription

Cancelling a subscription does not necessarily remove access immediately.

When a Paid subscription is scheduled to cancel at the end of its current billing period, you continue to have full access until that period ends.

If available through the Stripe Billing Portal, you can reactivate the subscription before the scheduled cancellation date.

Restarting an Expired Subscription

If your subscription has Expired, use Restart Subscription from the Billing page.

You will be redirected to Stripe to securely restart the subscription. Once Stripe confirms the new subscription, BananaBird restores the appropriate account access.

Restarting does not begin another free trial. The initial 3-month trial is provided when the Paid subscription is first created.

Expired Accounts and Data Deletion

When a Paid subscription becomes Expired, BananaBird begins an account-deletion lifecycle.

The account is scheduled for permanent deletion 60 days after expiry. BananaBird displays the remaining time on the Billing page and may send warning emails as the deletion date approaches.

Restarting the subscription before the deletion deadline clears the billing-expiry deletion schedule.

If an expired account reaches its scheduled deletion date, the account and its BananaBird data are permanently deleted. If you do not plan to restart your subscription, consider exporting your data before the deadline.
Managing Your Data

Billing Emails

BananaBird sends billing-related emails when action may be required or an important subscription state changes.

Depending on your subscription state, these can include:

  • Trial-ending reminders when no payment method is saved
  • Notification when a payment first becomes Past Due
  • Grace-period reminders
  • Notification when a subscription becomes Expired
  • Warnings before an expired account is permanently deleted

If Billing Information Is Temporarily Unavailable

BananaBird may occasionally be unable to retrieve live billing information from Stripe.

When this happens, the Billing page can still display the local subscription information BananaBird already has, while actions that require Stripe may be temporarily unavailable. Try again later or contact Support if the problem continues.
